Bijin-ga (portraits of beautiful women)

This is a collection of 4 bijin-ga prints by two well known Shin Hanga artists Ito Shinsui and Hashiguchi Goyo.

Ito Shinsui (1898-1972)
Ito Shisui printed his works through the publisher Watanabe from 1916 through 1960, printing both bijin ga and landscape prints.

Hashiguchi Goyo (1880-1921)
Hashiguchi Goyo is one of the most celebrated shin hanga artists, known especially for his prints of beautiful women or bijin-ga. The design and carving of Goyo's prints is technically masterful, and they are lavishly printed, often with fine mica backgrounds. Goyo's standards were so high that only prints of superior quality were sold.
